Question: For the past five years I’ve lived daily with the fear that I walked in my sleep one night and killed a man. My psychiatrist says to keep pushing this thought out of my mind, as it is an obsession. But this is very difficult. Some days are pure torture.

Answer: It would seem that this indeed is a deep-seated obsession, and in such a case advice from a psychiatrist is necessary. I’m glad you sought it. On the spiritual side, try to strengthen your confidence in God by frequently saying in your heart, “My Father in heaven, I trust in your mercy.”
